MEGA Saver Promotion

The supply of electricity and other eligible services to residential customers under this MEGA Saver Promotion ("Promotion") is in accordance with:

If there is any conflict between our General Terms and the MEGA Saver Terms of this Promotion, the MEGA Saver Terms below will apply.


Eligibility:

1. This Promotion is only available to new and existing residential customers in our service regions from 02 October 2023.

2. If you are an existing Megatel customer on a fixed-term contract for any service, you will either need to see out the fixed-term for that service (or pay any applicable early termination fee) before you are eligible for this plan.


Mega Saver discounts:

3. On this Promotion you will receive ongoing discounted pricing when you have electricity plus one or more other "eligible service" supplied by us at the same property and on the same account for the same billing period.

  • a) The other “eligible services” are broadband, mobile and/or natural gas.
  • b) The MEGA Saver discounts for each service are:
    • Electricity: 5% off our standard electricity pricing for your property.
    • Natural gas: 10% off our standard natural gas pricing for your property.
    • Broadband: $20 off your monthly broadband pricing.
    • Mobile (depending on your mobile plan):
      • - $3 off your monthly mobile pricing on our 1.5GB Rollover data mobile plan.
      • - $6 off your monthly mobile pricing on our 2.5GB Rollover data mobile plan.
      • - $9 off your monthly mobile pricing on our 4GB endless data mobile plan.
      • - $14 off your monthly mobile pricing on our 12GB endless data mobile plan.
      • - $16 off your monthly mobile pricing on our 40GB Big Data mobile data plan.

4. MEGA Saver discounts will only apply once electricity and the other eligible service(s) are all connected in the same billing period. For example:

  • a) If you bundle electricity together with broadband on this Promotion, and your broadband is connected with Megatel before your electricity, the MEGA Saver discounts won’t be applied until electricity is also connected with us
  • b) Put another way, if you bundle electricity together with broadband, and your electricity is connected with Megatel before your broadband, the MEGA Saver Promotion discounts on both electricity and broadband won’t be applied until broadband is also connected with us.

Please note that our monthly invoices are typically generated between the 2nd and 3rd business day each month, and that we charge for broadband, landline and mobile services one month in advance, but energy services are charged in arrears (i.e. after energy has been consumed). This means your first invoice for all services you bundle together on this MEGA Saver Promotion may not include MEGA Saver discounts (i.e. the discounts will only kick in when all relevant services are connected in the same billing period).


Term and termination:

5. There is no fixed-term for any service on this Promotion. This means you can switch away or terminate any service at any time, by providing at least 30 days advance notice to us. However, if you:

  • a) end the supply of electricity for any reason (so that we only supply you with broadband, mobile and/or natural gas – but not electricity), your pricing for the remaining services you have with us will automatically be changed to our most recent standard broadband, mobile and/or natural gas pricing for your property (which is available on request); or
  • b) end the supply of your other eligible services for any reason (so that we only supply you with electricity), your electricity pricing will automatically be changed to our most recent standard electricity-only pricing for your property (which is available on request).

6. There are no early termination fees for any service on this Promotion. However, early termination fees apply under other promotions available in conjunction with this plan.

Price changes:

7. Your prices for any service supplied on this Promotion (before any MEGA Saver discounts are applied), and the amount of any MEGA Saver discount, are not fixed and are subject to change from time to time. We will notify you if your prices or discounts change by providing you with at least 30 days advance notice.


General:

8. This Promotion is not available in conjunction with any other Megatel promotion for any service, unless expressly specified in such other promotion.

9. This Promotion cannot be transferred to a different property and will end if you move. However, we will still provide MEGA Saver Plan discounts if you sign up for electricity and at least one other eligible service at your new property.

10. Standard acceptance and credit criteria apply. Our standard installation / reconnection fees and additional service charges (published on our website) also apply.

11. We reserve the right to change or withdraw this Promotion at any time. If you are an existing customer on this Promotion, will we provide at least 30 days advance notice before any changes take effect.

12. There are additional terms which apply to the supply of broadband and mobile services on this Promotion, as set out below. Please make sure you understand the terms that apply to these services if you bundle either or both together with electricity on this Plan.

Broadband Supply Terms:

13. Your monthly broadband price (before the MEGA Saver Promotion discount is applied) will depend on your selected download speed plan.

14. If you choose to bundle broadband with electricity on this Promotion, you will need to either:

  • bring your own modem, in which case our BYO Modem Terms and Conditions will apply; or
  • rent a modem from MegaTEL, in which case our Rental Modem Terms and Conditions will apply and there is a one-off $15 delivery charge.

15. If you choose to bring your own modem or router to access our broadband service, you agree that your equipment is your responsibility and that we can’t help with configuration and cannot guarantee or support performance of your equipment or compatibility with our network.

16. Add-on service charges (such as a static IP address or VoIP home phones) are not included on this Promotion and will be charged separately (without discounted pricing) if selected.

17. Additional charges may apply to new and/or non-standard broadband installations or other items such as additional work performed by an approved technician. We will let you know if charges apply.


Mobile Supply Terms:

18. Your monthly mobile price (before any MEGA Saver discount is applied), and the amount of any MEGA Saver discount applied, will depend on your selected plan.

19. If you choose to bundle mobile with electricity on this Plan, there is a one-off $5 delivery charge to deliver a new Megatel SIM CARD to you.

20. You must check the compatibility of your mobile device with our network and confirm eSIM compatibility if you choose to use eSIM, which will be available at the time of joining.

21. Additional charges will apply if your usage exceeds the limits of your standard mobile plan or is not included in the standard mobile plan.

22. Roaming will be automatically activated when you're overseas, and charges will apply for any usage. You can purchase roaming packs or request us to disable roaming service at least 48 hours before leaving New Zealand. Please note that roaming usage updates may take up to 48 hours.


VoIP Home Phone Supply Terms:

23. If you purchase our VoIP home phone service, please note:

  • a) Your calls will be delivered over your broadband connection using Voice over Internet Protocol. This means that if there is a power or broadband outage, you will be unable to make calls using our phone service, including Emergency 111 calls. We recommend:
    • (i) you maintain or have access to a mobile phone service and keep a charged mobile phone at your property in case you need to call 111 or other emergency call services during an outage; and
    • (ii) if you rely on a medical alarm, life-support or other critical-support or monitored service, and your existing third-party service provider cannot guarantee its compatibility with our broadband/phone services, you should not sign up for our services.
  • b) If you or someone in your household is particularly at risk of requiring the 111 emergency service (e.g., for reasons of health, safety or disability) and you don’t already have an alternative way to call 111 in the event of an outage (e.g., a mobile phone), you can apply to be listed as a Vulnerable Consumer.
