1. What are Megatel Rewards?
Megatel Rewards is a loyalty program available through the MyMegatel App (“App”). With Megatel Rewards, you can earn points (“Points”) through various activities, such as timely bill payments or completing activities within the App. You can then redeem these points as cashback to pay your bill.
2. Participant eligibility
To enjoy Megatel Rewards and earn Points, you must be the primary account holder on your Megatel account and have access to the App. You will also need to download the latest version of the App to your mobile device. This includes individuals who may not yet have an active service account with Megatel but have engaged with Megatel by registering, applying for services, or participating in any activities that qualify for Points.
3. How It Works - Earning Points
- a) There are various ways to earn Points. You can earn Points by completing activities set out in the “Ways to earn points” section of Megatel Rewards in the App. Simply follow the instructions provided for each activity to earn Points. All activities are exclusively available through the App.
- b) We reserve the right to cancel or reverse Points earned from your rewards balance if the reward claim is not fully completed. For example, if the payment on which Points were earned is refunded or dishonored for any reason.
- c) Points are not legal currency and cannot be exchanged for cash. They cannot be transferred to another account, and you must not sell, assign, or transfer Points to any person for cash or any other form of consideration.
- d) Points you earn will vary depending on the activities.
- e) Every 3,000 Points holds a value of $30 (including GST, that is, the value of the points is equivalent to a GST-inclusive amount) and is redeemable as discounts towards future bill payments.
- We may add or remove activities (or change the applicable rewards for completing any of the activities) at our discretion. We will endeavour to provide reasonable notice of how these changes will affect you.
4. Spending Points
- a) You can view, track, and spend your Points in the App.
- b) Each Megatel Reward may have its own set of terms and conditions that you will need to accept as part of redeeming the reward.
- c) Once you have earned enough Points to unlock a cashback, you can use them to pay your bill. However, the cashback amount cannot exceed your current outstanding balance.
- d) Cashback amount will be deducted from your account balance at the time of redemption. Reward redemptions will be considered final, and you will not be able to change your mind after confirming a redemption.
- e) The default account for cashback redemption will be your energy account. If you don’t have an electricity or gas account balance to redeem, the amount will be applied to your mobile and/or broadband account.
5. Points Expiry
- a) Points are valid for two years from the date they are earned. After this period, points will expire and be removed from your account.
- b) Points will also expire and will be removed from your account if you leave Megatel. You will no longer be able to access the App and redeem your points after 30 days. Any remaining points will be removed from your account.
6. Variation
- a) We may make changes to these Terms or any specific Megatel Rewards terms from time to time. When changes are made, we will update these Terms on the Megatel website and within the App.
- b) We may make feature changes or enhancements to Megatel Rewards at any time, including adding or changing earn options.
7. Cancellation
- a) We may cancel your Megatel Rewards entirely on reasonable grounds, such as you being involved in fraudulent activity or any form of dishonest behaviour, or your account being in arrears.
- b) You may cancel Megatel Rewards at any time by contacting us.
- c) We may cancel Megatel Rewards at any time. We will provide you with 30 days’ notice of such cancellation.
- d) If your participation in Megatel Rewards is cancelled for any reason, any unspent Points or available rewards will no longer be valid and may not be credited or used for any purpose.
8. Other Terms
- a) Through your participation in Megatel Rewards, you authorise us to collect, use and disclose your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
- b) These Megatel Reward Terms and Conditions should be read in conjunction with Megatel’s General Terms and Conditions, including the Mobile Use Policy, Privacy Policy and Fair Use Policy which will also apply to you.
- c) These Terms will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of New Zealand and, in the event of any legal action in connection with these Terms, you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in New Zealand.
- d) We make no representation about your potential tax liability as a result of participating in earning Megatel Rewards. You are solely responsible for any tax liability (if any) incurred or tax that is required to be paid in connection with your participation in Megatel Rewards.
