Residential promotions

Broadband Single Saver Promotion

This promotion provides a $10 discount per month on our standard Broadband pricing for the first 12 months if you sign for Broadband-only service on a fixed-term 12-month supply contract.

Please note that:

  • - This promotion is only available for new or existing residential customers of Megatel using a Fibre Broadband service who do not have an Electricity service with Megatel.
  • - You must sign-up via one of our sales representatives or via our call centre. This promotion will not be available online or via door-to-door sales.
  • - This promotion is not available in conjunction with the Megatel MEGA Saver Promotion. If you want to sign up for both broadband and another eligible service (electricity, natural gas or mobile), then we recommend applying for the MEGA Saver Promotion instead – as this will provide you with better savings.

Eligibility

1. To be eligible for this promotion:

  • a) You must be a new or existing residential Megatel customer who does not have an Electricity service with Megatel.
  • b) You must meet our standard acceptance criteria and must sign your broadband-only service with Megatel on a 12-month fixed-term supply contract at your primary residential address. If you are an existing broadband customer, you must be on open-term broadband-only supply contract and re-sign your Megatel broadband-only service on this promotion for a 12-month fixed term.

Pricing and termination fees

2. Add-on service charges (such as a static IP address or Voip) are not included in the promotional broadband price and will be charged on a monthly basis if selected.

3. Pricing:

  • a) Your monthly broadband price will depend on your selected speed plan.
  • b) Your broadband service price will return to our standard price for your plan after the 12- month discount period has ended.
  • c) This Promotion will end if you move to an address where Megatel fibre service is not available (subject to clause 5(b) below).

4. Termination of Broadband services requires 30 days’ notice in advance. However, subject to clause 5(b) below, an early termination fee of $99 will apply if the broadband service is terminated for any reason before the end of your 12-month contracted supply term.


5. If you move to a different address during your contracted service term, the early termination fee will not apply:

  • a) where you continue to take our service at your new address (in which case, the fixed term contract will transfer to your new address); or
  • b) if your new address is where Megatel does not provide broadband services in New Zealand, and you provide us with reasonable evidence of your move (such as a lease agreement, settlement statement, or utility bill for the new address) within 30 days of your move-out date. The waiver will be granted at Megatel’s sole discretion upon verification of the provided documents.

Broadband Supply Terms

6. This promotion does not include a modem. If you need a new modem, you may choose either:


7. If you choose to bring your own modem or router to access our broadband service, you agree that your equipment is your responsibility. We can’t help with configuration or guarantee or support performance of your equipment or compatibility with our network.


8. Additional charges may apply to new and/or non-standard broadband installations or other items such as additional work performed by an approved technician. We will let you know if charges apply.


VoIP Home Phone Supply Terms:

9. If you purchase our VoIP home phone service, please note:

  • a) Your calls will be delivered over your broadband connection using Voice over Internet Protocol. This means that if there is a power or broadband outage, you will be unable to make calls using our phone service, including Emergency 111 calls. We recommend:
    • (i) you maintain or have access to a mobile phone service and keep a charged mobile phone at your property in case you need to call 111 or other emergency call services during an outage; and
    • (ii) if you rely on a medical alarm, life-support or other critical-support or monitored service, and your existing third-party service provider cannot guarantee its compatibility with our broadband/phone services, you should not sign up for our services.
  • b) If you or someone in your household is particularly at risk of requiring the 111 emergency service (e.g., for reasons of health, safety or disability) and you don’t already have an alternative way to call 111 in the event of an outage (e.g., a mobile phone), you can apply to be listed as a Vulnerable Consumer. If you qualify, we will provide you with a means to call 111 in the event of a power failure, at no cost to you. Contact us or visit here for more information and to apply.

10. Standard acceptance criteria apply. Our standard installation / reconnection fees and additional service charges (published on our website) also apply.

This promotion is only valid until 31 December 2025 and Megatel reserves the right to withdraw or amend this promotion without notice at any time.
