This Business Joining Credit Promotion provides you with a joining credit on your energy account when you sign up for electricity and/or natural gas on a contract with a fixed term of 1 – 3 years.

Eligibility

1. This Business Joining Credit Promotion:

• a) is only available for business customers;
• b) may be used in conjunction with other current supply promotions offered by Megatel.

2. To be eligible for this promotion:

• a) You must be a new Megatel business energy customer, meaning that you must not have an existing account for any energy service with Megatel, and you must not have received any energy service from Megatel previously at your business.
• b) You must meet our standard acceptance criteria and sign up for electricity and/or natural gas on a contract with a fixed term of 1 – 3 years at your business address.
• c) All of the services must be connected at the same business address within one month from the date you signed your application.

If all services are not connected within one month (for any reason), then this promotion and any supply obligations will automatically cease (and any joining credit will be reversed).

Joining credit

3. The amount of any joining credit offered to you under this promotion is at Megatel’s sole discretion and will differ depending on things like the duration of your supply contract, whether you sign up electricity and natural gas together, and your estimated annual energy consumption.

4. The relevant joining credit will be applied to your energy account and will show on your first bill, and is not transferable, exchangeable, refundable nor redeemable for cash or any other use apart from being applied as a credit to your Megatel energy account.

Early termination fees

5. If you end your supply contract for electricity and/or natural gas for any reason before the end of your contracted supply term, an early termination fee equal to the relevant joining credit will apply. If you move to a different address where our services are not available before the contract end date, or if you cancel the supply contract for any reason before the contract end date, you will be charged a full early termination fee.

6. For the avoidance of doubt, if you accept this Business Joining Credit Promotion together with another promotional business supply plan that comes with an early termination fee, both early termination fees will separately apply in accordance with their terms.

Energy pricing

• a) due to changes to taxes (e.g., GST), levies (including the Electricity Authority Levy and/or Gas Industry Company Levy), the NZ Emissions Trading Scheme, or any other governmental or regulatory changes; OR
• b) due to changes in third party costs, for example network company, transmission, and metering charges (which may apply to both the Daily Charge and the Variable Charge components of your electricity pricing); OR
• c) if, for any reason, the information we have relied on to set your pricing is incorrect and/or requires amendment (e.g., if your metering set-up or capacity and/or your pricing category is incorrect or changes); OR
• d) if capacity is changed by you or network company; OR
• e) if you move to a different property.

We may also adjust your pricing if your energy usage deviates from the expected monthly proportion of your estimated annual energy consumption (as set out in your supply contract) by more than 20 percent for a consecutive period of 3 months or more. We will notify you in advance if this happens.

This promotion is only valid until 31 December 2025 and may be withdrawn or amended at Megatel’s discretion without notice.
